12th-Sep-2010 04:28 am - On Second Thought
I've tried to leave LJ, but I couldn't! I'm in a WordPress phase right now; I feel more free there, not sure about inspiration though, but I still don't know my way through the WP community and how to make people read what I write. It seems that it's easier and more friendly here on LJ, maybe I'm imagining this because I'm new to WP.

If you're a WP user, what do you think about it?
10th-May-2010 08:08 pm - Mad Men Yourself

I'm in an intense Mad Men mood lately. I made this picture with "Mad Med Yourself" game; a cooler version of Face your Manga.
So here I am, standing in Sterling Cooper with a cigarette in my hand. Apparently Joan is jealous of me and Pete is giving me "the look". Haha!

So if you're a fellow Mad Men fan, go to madmenyourself.com and upload your picture.
6th-May-2010 01:33 pm - Reasons Why I Love Alexa Chung

• She's skinny as a stick.
• Her voice and her British accent are wonderful.
• She's one of the few TV hostesses that don't act like overly feminine whores.
• She dresses uniquely. Has a great sense of style.
• She doesn't smile too much in her photos. (I hate people who desperately try to show all their teeth in every single photo.)
• She's not intimidated by keeping her hair short.

I haven't met her yet, but I think she and I have a lot in common.
5th-Aug-2009 12:51 pm - A Change Would Do You Good

In order to remotivate myself, I wrote a list of tips that would help getting though work and studying. Everyone knows this, but guess what! Humans are forgetful creatures.

• Do your homework, successful people have their homework priority number 1+.
• Keep things under control, and keep them perfect as much as you can.
• Make use of everyday.
• Don't let your feeling affect the speed and efficiency of your work.
• Focus on "today", tomorrow is still a day away; who knows what will happen.
• Prioritize! Teenis balls then sand, never the other way.
• Give yourself a chance to develop, start with what you have in hand today.
• Start today, tomorrow might be too late.
• Never let being poor show and don't let it cramp your style. Meanwhile, work on being rich.
• You can do anything if you are determined.
• Believe in the power of your mind.
• Don't let anything or anyone wrecks down your self-esteem or confidence.
• Have high self-esteem. Thing highly of yourself.
• If you have flaws or imperfections, fix them!
• Making things rather than consuming things.
• There’s no such thing as "creative chaos", creative minds are organized, chaos leads to misery.
• Move your butt off the couch. Get physical, lazy isn't cool.
• There's nothing more important than education. Go to college and "finish" it.
• Be ambitious. Have hopes and dreams, they don't hurt.
• Travel. See the world, it makes a difference.
• Never look down to anybody and never ever backstab or say something mean behind other people’s backs, especially your friends.
27th-Sep-2008 12:25 am - The Most Beautiful Face in Hollywood

Just about three days before Anita Page has passed away, someone brought up old movies so I told everybody about how great it is that an actress called Anita Page who was present in the very first academy award ceremony is still alive. I got The Broadway Melody (1929) in August; sadly I didn't watch it until I knew about her death.

The Broadway Melody (1929)

I generally enjoy movies set in New York City, although I have to admit that I expected more excitement, but I enjoyed it a lot anyways. Anita Page is gorgeous and anyone would immediately love her.
5th-Aug-2008 02:25 pm - Bubble Bath Monster
Finally I finished some artwork after a long idle art phase! I'm so happy about it because it's the first finished artwork in about six months, I think the result is kind of satisfying considering the fact that I'm used to traditional painting, trying digital painting is a new exiting experience.
I feel bad about not posting any artwork on my LiveJournal, I'm willing to that more often.

Bubble Bath Monster (2008) by yours truly. :)

Making Bubble Bath Monster:

I heard comments about dear monster looking like an eggplant or a large cucumber.
It's drawn traditionally and painted digitally with a regular mouse (the most annoying thing ever!) I can't wait to get a graphics tablet.

My Brief Art History:
I started drawing since I began walking, in my childhood I mostly did watercolour cartoons, simple comic strips, animals and pretty girls; I had such wild imagination and my drawings where the best in my class. Then I shifted to anime in my teenage years, and at the age of 20 I started drawing realistic pencil portraits and gave oil painting and digital colouring a try. I can't stick to just one style!

Right now my favourite styles are 60s bold-line style and mid-century advertising illustrations, and recently most of my artwork are unfinished sketches, I have few ideas in mind to finish before school starts.
2nd-Jul-2008 01:23 am - Canada

I love Canada. I consider Montreal my second hometown, so in honour of Canada Day here are my top ten favourite Canadian things:
01. Tim Hortons
02. Montreal
03. YTV
04. Anne of Green Gables
05. Square One
06. La Ronde
07. Poutine
08. Multiculturalism
09. The letter "U"
10. The landscape
26th-Jun-2008 12:36 am - Tap Dance

Tap Dancers on Stage by Wisconsin Historical Society

I consider tap dance my most favourite style of dancing, but since I can't tap dance at all I satisfy my tappin' need by watching old tap dance videos on YouTube and classic dancing movies hoping to be able to tap my feet gracefully someday. About two years ago I saw an Australian tap dance movie called Bootmen (2000); amazingly combining tap dance with rock music and industrial zones, but nothing in the modern entertainment world can beat something like this:
These "Eddies" are amazing! I want to see this entire thing, but classic movies are already too hard to find; finding British revues on DVD will be even harder.
29th-May-2008 07:19 pm - Yoo-Hoo!
I haven't updated in May at all! I'm up to my elbows with schoolwork and exams, they start next week. Just posting to let the world know that I'm not ignoring my LiveJournal. :)
13th-Apr-2008 07:13 pm - 24th Birthday
My 24th birthday was on April 11th; I'm so glad it was incredible; the best parts were the surprise party and the gourmet sushi. I never mentioned that sushi is my favourite food. :)

I was hoping to recieve an iPod for my birthday, but I got this book instead; which was also on my wishlist. Speaking of iPod, I was uncertain about getting an iPod Touch (max. capacity 32 GB) or Classic (max. capacity 160 GB), I would naturally go for the higher capacity because I can be unreasonable when it comes to loading music and movies, but I can't resist the touchscreen and the Wi-Fi. I guess I'll need more time to decide.
15th-Mar-2008 08:09 pm - Valley Movies
Movies about spoiled silly teenage girls who excessively use the word "like" are definitely not the movies I naturally watch and enjoy... But these following feel-good movies were entertaining and absolutely likable!

Valley Girl (1983):

I never thought I'd like this movie.

Man, he's like tripendicular, ya know?Collapse )

Clueless (1995):
Photobucket

I remember I hated this movie when seening it for the first time (I can't remember when/how/where, Probably 1999,) but after watching the other day I enjoyed it a lot.

Do you prefer fashion victim or ensembly challenged?Collapse )
13th-Mar-2008 04:00 pm - Super Mario Bros.
I've been playing the same 1985 Super Mario Bros. since 1991 (which is no. 1 on my favourite list,) I really didn't notice this!

This game can have serious levels of difficulty that can beat some of highly advanced games on PlayStation 3 and Xbox despite of its simplicity. My favourite part is the secret places.

27th-Feb-2008 07:05 am - Letter Meme
[1. Comment and I'll give you a letter
[2. List 10 things you love that begin with that letter.
[3. Post this in your journal and give out some letters of your own.

Sweet vanillica gave me the letter E.

01. Early mornings: I like them when I'm on vacation.
02. Eclipse: A very interesting phenomena; and kind of terrifying. I like both kinds of eclipse.
03. Edna Purviance: The first silent movie star I've seen in film.
04. Edwardian era: Dearly in love with it. I became interested in Edwardian era after reading my favourite book of all time; Anne of Green Gables and watching Road to Avonlea.
05. Electric Company: One of my dear childhood shows.
06. Ella Fitzgerald.
07. English afternoon tea:
Proper tea traditions utterly satisfy me.
08. English country houses: It would be lovely to live in a cozy one someday.
09. English language.
10. Ernest Hemingway.
20th-Feb-2008 07:14 pm - Before Green Gables
I'm excited about Before Green Gables, I can't wait to read it. You know, I'm obsessed about anything related to Avonlea.
I think it would feel awkward to read an Anne Shirley book not written by L.M. Montgomery, but my expectation are high since Budge Wilson is a Canadian from Nova Scotia.

14th-Feb-2008 12:28 pm - I Need a New Bunch of Books...

Movies I can't wait to see in no particular order:

1. Footloose (1984): I have to see it before the 2008 remake comes out; I hate it when they remake 80s movies, it sucks the essential part out of them: "THE 80s!"

2. Harold and Maude (1971): I love cult movies... then why the heck I haven't seen the most famous one yet?! Probably because I waste my precious free time watching (and then wishing I haven't seen) ridiculous movies like Alpha Dog. According to the trailer and some reviews I predict that I absolutely and dearly would fall in love with it.

3. Help! (1965): Let's see how well those cute boys can act.

4. Sweeney Todd (2007): I'm not usually enthusiastic about top ten movies but... Did you say Tim Burton? Absolutely yes! :)
12th-Feb-2008 06:21 pm - Tagged
When you get tagged you must add weird/less-known facts about yourself, they don't have to be bad or good, just plain facts. Here are ten somewhat bizarre facts about myself:

01. When I return home after shopping I keep things in their bags and price tags for several days.
02. I don't take sugar in my tea, I also highly prefer loose tea over teabags.
03. I like thin chocolate bars.
04. Through the years I've obtained and developed my own taste regardless of society influences.
05. When I was 13 I wanted to marry John Lennon.
06. I've always been an anime artist, I suddenly stopped being an anime fan in 2003.
07. I consider 70s/early 80s men haircuts quite attractive.
08. I'm eager to meet new people and make new friends, sadly that's often repressed because I'm generally shy and quiet.
09. I've always had my hair cut above the level of my shoulders, now I'm letting it grow for a change.
10. I'm stuck in the 30s, 60s and 80s.

I don't have any tagged friends in mind, feel free to repost with your own facts.

4th-Feb-2008 03:37 am - I Honestly Had No Idea...
</center>

Cuuuute! I love you guys! :D
I've watched many movies lately, basically from the lists I've created earlier. So here are the 80s movie reviews I promised (about four weeks ago?), I will add one or two reviews in each post.

St. Elmo's Fire (1985)
Photobucket

I don't know, I didn't like the characters, but I think the movie was fairly good because the atmosphere was fine. In my opinion the only sweet element in the film was the presence of Andrew McCarthy, his incredible cuteness makes any movie delightful and heartlighted; pretty similar to Audrey Hepburn's delight... Wait, Andrew McCarthy and Audrey Hepburn?! That's weird.

Fluff's what I write for the paperCollapse )

Weird Science (1985)
Photobucket

Although there were some unsatisfying elements, I thought it was totally funny.

Do you realize it's snowing in my room goddammit!Collapse )
29th-Jan-2008 12:04 am - Pointless Post

I scanned this eariler, I wish it could turn real!
25th-Jan-2008 05:39 am - Classic Movies
I've made a classic movie list classified by era, it has the same 80s movie list colour indications. Movie lists help me organize my thoughts so movies wouldn't occupy a huge space in my brain, and I would know which movie has the priority. This list in particular helps me realize that I've seen few classic movies, I always though I've seen a many.

Reminder of Colour Indications:
Red = I've seen this movie.
= I love it! It's my favourite.
♥ = Fairly good.
(blank) = I don't know.
X = I didn't like it.
Blue = I really want to see it.
Black = I want to see it.

I'm always going to update this list and change the colours, so check it out every now and then, I'm also going to post reviews of the movies I'm going to see this list.
